Karen is the practice owner and senior physiotherapist.
She qualified in 1996 from Otago University and initially worked in private practice in Te Kuiti, as well as hospital outpatient work. While in Te Kuiti she worked with King Country Development rugby, and Riverlands Netball. She then worked as a sole practioner in Putaruru before moving to Perth, WA.
While in Australia Karen completed a clinical Masters Degree in Sports Physiotherapy where she picked up the prize for top marks in her year. She has also completed courses in acupuncture, pilates, kinesiotaping and manual therapy.
Karen then worked in the UK, mostly in private practice before returning to Hamilton, purchasing the Hillcrest Physiotherapy Clinic in September 2007.
Karen has a special interest in core stability. In particular using Pilates and Real-time Ultrasound to enhance results. As well as using Real Time Ultrasound for pelvic floor assessment.
Karen has also recently become a certified Steel Pilates Physiotherapist, specialisng in individualised exercise programmes for men with cancer.
She is a physiotherapist with Hamilton Old Boy’s Rugby Club Premier Side.
Karen is passionate about getting people moving again, maximising their potential and letting people benefit from what exercise can offer.
