YOUR ROLE IN THE RECOVERY PROCESS

To get the greatest benefit from your treatment you will need to carefully follow the instructions of your therapist.

You may be shown how to correct your posture, or how to lift correctly. You may need to learn some stretching exercises to increase the length of a muscle or the range of movement at a joint. You may have to learn some exercises to strengthen weak muscles, or to improve your balance.

Your therapist may give you a printed exercise programme.

If it is recommended that you rest from sport or some other activity for a specific time it is important to do so.

At subsequent treatments the therapist will ask you how you have progressed since the previous treatment, and will measure your progress. This helps decide whether to continue with that treatment or to change it.
